Paint It Black presents: Sylver Tongue single launch party w/ Joyce and Sean Adams DJ (Drowned In Sound)
Sylver Tongue is playing a special show to celebrate the launch of new single ‘Creatures’ http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2012/apr/13/new-music-sylver-tongue-creatures
NME: ‘Backed by a band offering up space age synths and subtle glam stomps with the polish of a project far past it’s current infancy, Hatherley makes for a commanding lynchpin, stalking the stage with a thrillingly standoffish strut… The set spills over with cold, futuristic washes of noise and stealthy fretwork’
We are very pleased to announce the addition of Joyce to this bill. She seemingly appeared out of the ether a couple of weeks ago to pick up a slew of One To Watch pieces and promptly sign to Island. Joyce recently filmed this ace session for i-D which gives you a taste of her gorgeous icy synth-pop.

MMOTHS is here to kindle a new flame for electronic music, pushing it into lush new territory with the honesty of the young and impassioned. The 18-year-old, Irish producer has embraced endless nights and bags beneath his eyes in exchange for something more; a uniquely ethereal sound that’s entirely his own. The Ireland-based artist and producer mesmerises with sparse synths dripping in reverb, transforming digital soundscapes into organic songs, equally fit for both a night on the town and one spent indoors in the company of candlelight.
Planet Mu’s Solar Bears share a love of world cinema, their music deftly combining these cinematic references with dark, futuristic electronica. Their sound is a mix of programming, acoustic instruments, synths and vintage tape machines. The freeform approach of their writing and recording lends itself to varying tones and colours.
Digits’ recently put out a hauntingly seductive mixtape, including stand out track Death and Desire. These two Freudian drives duelling to stunning effect in all his releases so far:
We are thrilled to be co-hosting Gwilym Gold’s first live headline show with Bronze Club.
Gwilym Gold was the vocalist and keyboardist in Golden Silvers, who released a critically acclaimed album, True Romance, via XL Recordings in 2009. A year later he announced that he had disbanded Golden Silvers and was working on a new project with Lexxx, the producer/engineer who has collaborated with Wild Beasts, Esser and Björk, amongst others. Last summer the pair revealed BRONZE, a new musical format, born whilst working on the music for Gold’s forthcoming album, due for release later this year.
BRONZE reinterprets a song in real time, manipulating all aspects of the sound, from the rhythms to the texture and structure, and generating a unique version on each and every listen.
You can have a preview of Gwilym’s beautiful, dark pop here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Mv57ULG0CFs

Halls is the solo project of south London-based musician Samuel Howard, combining looped electronic samples with sparse vocals, each song deeply is submerged in dense reverb.
He recently released the stunning Fragile EP, which you can listen to here: http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/articles/first-on/halls-its-not-like-im-alone-hunched-over-a-laptop-in-the-dark/
PINKUNOIZU The improbable collusion of influences behind Pinkunoizu’s music has inspired a sound that surprises and thrills whilst being a delectable listening experience. The Danish by way of Berlin band’s music has “more colours than a rainbow…imbued with Krautrock spirit, Can liquidity and Faust unpredictability, with a taste for Oriental timbres”. http://www.facebook.com/Pinkunoizu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF-nRzfyxhs http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/2012/03/pinkunoizu-the-abyss-song-of-the-day-419-best-fit-premiere/

OPOSSOM New Zealanders Opossom are a really exciting new group we can’t wait to see live. Formed of producer and ex-Mint Chick’s frontman Kody Nielsen, fellow ex-Mint Chick member Michael Logi and the prolific Bic Runga. Check out their skittering psych-synth-pop here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/OPOSSOM/269430326431048 http://opossommusic.com/videos http://www.undertheradar.co.nz/utr/more/NID/4346/Listen-Opossom—-Electric-Hawaii.utr
POST WAR YEARS Post War Years have been steadily creeping their way into people’s affections for quite a while. Currently on the verge of releasing their eagerly awaited second LP, Open All Eyes, they have recently been trialling new material on tour with Everything Everything and The Naked and Famous. This will be one of the last times they play a venue of this size so make sure to come down and discover for yourself why they are tipped for success by so many. Dark, booming yet sparkling instrumentation and synths a plenty.
SYLVER TONGUE The enigmatic Sylver Tongue, recently revealed as Ash’s Charlotte Hatherly, has only played a couple of shows after her music sparked deserved interest online. Inspired by 70s sci-fi movies, psychedelic pop and the prowling grooves of Grace Jones and her warm leatherette, Sylver’s songs were hammered out on an old battered Juno and a shiny metal computer from the comfort of her underground cave. Intrigued enough yet?!
VICTORIES AT SEA This Birmingham band who played for us a few months ago and we are thrilled to have them back at The Old Blue Last. One of very few, exciting new pop groups around with a live show that more than lives up to their online promise.
CYMBALS (DJ) Set Last time we saw them behind the decks we had a blast. Can wholeheartedly assure you it was the tunes, definitely not the Jaeger… Perfect folks to soundtrack your Friday night.
Our next night, mid way through Jan, about the time when the detox is biting hard and you need wicked tunes to bring you out of the debt and cold fuelled depression. This lot will do it for sure:
We are really excited to present Copenhagen-based producer CHLLNGR’s second ever London show. He created one of the freshest sounding LPs to emerge in 2011, Haven, after releasing several very well received remixes for the likes of The XX and MIA. CHLLNGR’s rhythms borrow heavily from dubstep as well as R&B blended with icy, ghostly drones that shape his signature nocturnal sonorous landscape.
South London’s NZCA/ Lines is also indebted to R&B but his is a warmer and glossier electro-pop sound. A sneak listen to his soon to be released debut album assured us he is one of the few truly worthy acts to keep a very close eye on in 2012
London duo Corpse Lights flit between the guises of band and sound designers, refusing to be defined by genre, they use a haphazard array of modern and retro synthesizer technology to form their brilliantly unpredictable yet very satisfying tracks.

“fuzzy walls of noise combine with frenetic, pounding drums and swirling melodies to create a sound much bigger than it’s constituent parts” Rough Trade http://crushedbeaks.tumblr.com/
